Biography

Prof. Olabisi Adeleye Adekeye had his university education at the University of Ilorin where he obtained Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree in Geology, Second Class Upper Division (1993), Master of Science degree in Applied Geology (1998) and Ph. D in Geology (2005) respectively. He had Post-Graduate Diploma Certificate in Advanced Academic Practice from Grenoble Graduate School of Business (GGSB), Grenoble, France (2012).

He commenced his professional career as a University Lecturer at the University of Ilorin, Department of Geology and Mineral Sciences in the year 1998 as an Assistant Lecturer and he rose through the ranks to become full professor of Geology in 2019. He is involved in teaching, research and grading of scripts of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses along with other members of staff in the Department. He taught courses in various aspect of Introductory Geology, Petroleum Geology, Marine Geology, Principles of Stratigraphy, Micropaleontology, Paleobiology and Geology of Nigeria for the Undergraduate while for the Postgraduate, he taught Advanced Micropaleontology, Advanced Stratigraphy, Advanced Sedimentology, Advanced Petroleum Geology, Coal Geology, Biostratigraphy, Subsurface Geology, Sedimentary Petrology and Advanced Palynology. He is also actively involved in Geological Field Mapping Exercise. He has been supervising many research projects of both undergraduate (B. Sc.) and postgraduate (M. Sc. and Ph. D) students.  He is the North Central Zonal Coordinator for Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and Faculty Advisor for the NMGS/NAPE student chapter. He has served in many academic positions including Academic Level Adviser, Examination Officer, Post-graduate Coordinator and Head of Department. He is the current Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin

Prof. Olabisi Adeleye Adekeye specializes in Sedimentary Rocks. His research interest is in Basin Analysis spanning Depositional Environment, Foraminifera Biostratigraphy, Source Rock Potential Assessment, Sedimentology and Organic Geochemistry. He has over seventy publications in reputable learned national and international journals. He led the Virtual Field Trips (VFT) for the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) conference in 2021 and 2024 respectively. He supervised the best paper award winner of the 1st NAPE MiniConference in the year 2002 held at Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). He is a registered member of Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG) He is a visiting Geoscientist at the Technical University, Berlin and University of Frankfurt, Germany. He has served as external examiner for undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in many Universities including: University of Ibadan (UI), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kwara State University (KWASU), Molete, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, University of Limpopo, South Africa and University of Fort Hare, South Africa. He has been external assessor for professorial cadre in many Universities and he is a reviewer to many journal publications. He was a resource person to Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), Abuja for some years.  Prof. Olabisi Adeleye Adekeye is happily married to Mary Oluwakemi and they are blessed with children.
